Introduction
Oyo is growing. You can see it in the new buildings springing up along the expressway and the bustle at Akesan Market. But socially? We are miles behind.
If you want to take your family out on a Sunday evening, where do you go? If you want to sit with friends somewhere that isn't a beer parlor or a fast-food joint, what are your options? The answer is usually "nowhere."
The Gap
We are lacking Recreational Centers.
- Green Parks: A simple garden where children can run and adults can sit.
- Amusement Spots: We shouldn't have to travel to Ibadan just to let our kids play on a merry-go-round.
- Public Libraries/Workspaces: Places for students to read without distraction.
It is time for the government and private investors to look beyond building shops. We need spaces that build community. A town that only works and sleeps is not truly alive. We need places to breathe.
