In a major boost for healthcare delivery in Oyo Town, Governor Seyi Makinde has issued a strict 12-month ultimatum for the total revitalization of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital Complex, Oyo Annex.
The Governor gave this charge on Monday at the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s Office, Ibadan, while inaugurating the new Governing Board of the Teaching Hospital.
The Mandate: “Operational in 12 Months”
Acknowledging the need for better medical facilities in the zone, Governor Makinde declared the revamp of the Oyo complex a “special project.”
“One request that I have before this Board is that the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Complex, Oyo, must be totally revamped,” the Governor stated. “It should be operational within 12 months. By this time next year, we will not be going back and forth.”

He assured the Board that even though the project was not included in the French grant, the State Government would take full financial responsibility to ensure the facility meets world-class standards.
Double Celebration: 13th Month Salary Approved
Beyond the infrastructure news, the Governor brought smiles to the faces of civil servants by approving the payment of the 13th-month salary for the seventh consecutive year since his administration began in 2019.
Additionally, he announced the clearance of outstanding salaries and minimum wage arrears for the staff of LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, a move aimed at averting looming industrial action.
“I am happy to report that just this morning, I signed the salary file for the December salary and the 13th-month salary. All those arrears were included,” Makinde confirmed.
A New Era for LAUTECH Health
Speaking on behalf of the newly inaugurated Board, the Chairman, Professor Banji Oyelaran-Oyeyinka, promised to hit the ground running. He outlined a strategic plan to introduce Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and bring the hospital up to 21st-century standards.
“We want to ensure that we have a thorough face-lift of LAUTECH Teaching Hospital… leaving a legacy with this project bestowed on us,” the Chairman assured.
